STEFANIE ZINS

Eindhoven, The Netherlands

I am a process-driven object (co)-designer focused on designing for the ‘moments of transition’ between events or activities in people’s lives. I aim to bring more positive experiences into large, complicated systems, through the design of the objects within them.

To create meaning, I must focus on problems that not only interest me but also require urgent attention. In this globalized world reliant on cultural understanding and communication, I can apply my design skills to such challenges. As a designer, I do not have the power to control many political and social situations that I am passionate about, however, I believe that my purpose is to use my skills to create work that benefits those affected. I thrive in situations that involve understanding a large system to address a smaller problem. Making connections by mapping and understanding where the weak points lie allows for identifying opportunities for design interventions. This does not mean addressing the whole problem but rather identifying weak points and focal areas that can be addressed through meaningful design interventions.
